Frequently Asked Questions

I see that I can sign my child up for your gymnastics classes at any time during the year. When is the best time for my child to start?

We craft our lesson plans around the September – June season.  It doesn’t matter when you begin, your child is going to receive varied, challenging, and fun lessons throughout the season.  With that in mind, our coaches are trained to facilitate a lesson that teaches students together as a group on skills they can all handle at that point in time.  So, your child can start anytime between September and June and have a wonderful experience feeling challenged and successful while building more strength, developing more flexibility.

If I sign-up for a session, am I committed through the end of the season? What if my schedule changes?

We do run our regular season like the school year, from September until June.  You are not committed to attending the full season however the enrollment is yours if you want it for the full season.  If you do not wish to continue into the next session you must notify the office in writing by week 8 of the current session.
If your schedule changes throughout the season, you can transfer your child into any open class by requesting so through the office. Since classes can remain full most of the season, we do recommend getting on waiting lists ahead of time.

Is there a fee to create an account or join a waiting list?

No, while our online system does require credit card information to be on file, you are not charged until an official enrollment takes place.  If you join a waiting list, you will be notified via email/phone if a spot opens up for your child.  At that time, you can claim the spot or pass on it.  If you claim the enrollment, billing will be processed at that time.

What should my child wear to class?

Your child should wear athletic clothing (nothing with buckles, buttons, zippers, etc).  Leotards are always welcome but not mandatory.  Children will enter the gym barefoot and without any jewelry on.

My child is very advanced for their age, can they be put in the gymnastics class for older children?

Usually no, we have found that placing a child into an incorrect age bracket takes away from not only the success of that child’s experience but also from that of the other students in the class.  Social skills, spatial awareness, patience in waiting, among many other aspects, change dramatically from year to year, especially in the younger children.  If your child’s coach feels that they could benefit from being moved up to the next age group, they will reach out to you and discuss your thoughts.

How long will my child stay on the waiting list?

If needed, your child will stay on the waiting list all the way through Session 4 of the current season.  Once Session 4 is over the waiting lists expire.

Does the gym close for snow or other extreme weather?
We always strive to hold classes, however, there are times when travel on the roads is deemed unsafe for most people.  If we do decide to cancel classes, we will notify you via email and social media.  We will also send out text alerts, so we highly recommend opting into this service in your parent portal account.  We DO NOT follow the school system closures!

I can't access my old account. Can you restore it for me?

After an account has been inactive for a period it will be moved to an inactive status.  If you are unable to login to your account, it has most likely been moved to an archived account. Please email us @gkgym@aol.com and we can restore it for you
